Day 6 cont.

3:30pm
Lucas has been relatively stable (but still critical) all day. He remains in a medication induced coma. He has a cooling blanket to keep his temp down and further slow metabolism. He is scheduled to have a filter inserted into a large vein (IVC) in his chest to catch any possible blood clots that may develop. The doctors feel he can tolerate the procedure, but please pray there will be no complications and that his intracranial pressures will remain low (they will have to lie him down for the procedure and his pressures increase then). We are unsure of the time of the procedure... sometime late afternoon or early evening is what we are told.

We so appreciate your continued prayers for Lucas. Pray for healing of his body and especially for the state of his soul. Continue to pray as the Spirit gives you leading. We are confident that when we ourselves are too tired to pray, others of you are lifting him up before the Father. We appreciate your prayers for us and your messages and offers of love and support.

Finally, there is a dear sister here whose husband suffered a brain injury over two weeks ago. She has been an encouragement to us as someone walking in our shoes. Please pray for her husband, Adam Root, that the Lord would give healing to him also. Pray for her, Amy, and for her daughter, Mackenzie, that the Lord would give them continued strength to persevere and the peace that surpasses all understanding. Please see www.adamrootfamily.blogspot.com for her updates.

God is good.

  2. Tina and Bernie, I just learned of your situation yesterday as a prayer request went out on the prayer e-mail for Grace Bible. Please be assured that I am praying for Lucas' spiritual as well as physical condition and that I am praying for the rest of the family as well. I especially had you guys on my mind during the night last night and prayed every time I woke up with you on my mind. Much love and prayers Debbie Moxley

  3. I am moved by the way you have ended your updates. "God is good." Yes, He is. Even now.

  4. Romans 8:26-39 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
    What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written:
    "For your sake we face death all day long;
    we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
