Lucas' intracranial pressures are still high this morning so please continue to pray earnestly they would decrease on their own. His chest tubes came out this morning. He may have a pneumonia and is on antibiotics. His electrolytes are better. He is getting some blood this morning. He did have his IVC filter yesterday, so I think we are done with any procedures other than some surgeries on his leg and neck that can wait. There is so much going on... it can be easy to focus on this number or that number... but ultimately God is in control and we pray for His healing.
Pray for continued knowledge, wisdom, skill, and compassion for the doctors, nurses, and others taking care of Lucas.
Pray for patience, peace, and comfort for Tina, Spencer, and myself. Pray also for Sydney, Lucas' girlfriend. We are so very grateful for the outpouring of love and support. We are so thankful for Lucas's friends who have been to visit. Please continue to check in with us and visit, although we do want to limit access to his room right now to keep him as quiet as possible.
God is good.

I'm in back in town for a few days, and would like to pass along a hand written note of encouraging words for Lucas' Mom& Dad to read to him. I only hung out with Lucas a handful of times before I moved away from NC, and I respect your wishes of keeping visitors to a minimum... How might I get this note to him?
ReplyDeleteLucas has been in my prayers constantly. My family, though they never met him, are praying for Lucas, too. Spiritual help is equally as important as the medical help to Lucas' recovery. Hugs and prayers to Lucas' friends and family.
You may come visit in the hospital. We wish to keep room visitors to a minimum just for right now, but are happy to meet his friends in the waiting room. -Burnie (Lucas' dad)

we love you burnie.
ReplyDeleteI wanted you to know that Zach and I told our kids about what Lucas is going through. Pete (age 4.5) is very concerned... he's my sensitive one. He said "Dr. Burnie is sad? He helped my tummy get better one time. I hope his boy gets all better." Pete has a real spiritual side to him, always has. He wants you to know that God loves you... he's been singing praises all day. "And a child shall lead them..."
We are heartbroken for you all. Surrounding you with prayers of peace.

ReplyDelete"For I am with you always...." May you lean on God's grace which is larger than anything we can imagine. God has always been with Lucas and remains with him through this journey. Nothing can separate us for God and nothing can have any dominion over God's salvation. May you embrace God's grace in every breath. Peace and Grace to you....

ReplyDeleteI will love You, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.
For You will light my lamp; The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. You have also given me the shield of Your salvation; Your right hand has held me up, Your gentleness has made me great.
continuing to hold you in my thoughts and prayers. God's peace to you, Tina, Spencer and Lucas and Sydney

Burnie we are diligently praying. The boys want to know if they can send Lucas some of their artwork? Just as the rest of us, they also want to do something to help ease the pain. You all are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. If there is anything we can do please let us know.
ReplyDeleteWith love and prayers,

I came to your blog after hearing about you from Amy, the wife of another ICU patient, Adam (my cousin). I am saying a prayer for Lucas and your family now. You are very correct in that God is good, and I pray that you will truly experience His goodness in the midst of the trial. Some of us have been keeping a blog with devotionals on healing, prayer, fasting, etc. for Adam. I think you may be able to find great encouragement in it: http://www.fasting-for-adam.blogspot.com/
