Day 9

Lucas remains in extremely critical condition. His blood pressure continues to drop and he had to start on a third pressure medicine last night. It would be easy to ask for prayer for his blood pressure, but honestly there is so much going on that it is really impossible to ask for prayer for specific things. At this point we can only ask for God's healing touch upon him. Continue to pray for knowledge, wisdom, skill, and compassion on the part of the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, and many others who are caring for him. We are faced with some very difficult decisions... pray with us for God's guidance in all things.

We respectfully request no visitors to Lucas' room right now. He needs as little stimulation as possible. Please note that our own time is limited and our schedule unknown. But please, please keep praying for him. We don't want his friends to feel disconnected.

Please continue to lift up Spencer, Tina, and myself. We are in a dark place. Continue to pray for Sydney. She is there with us.

We love you. Thank you for your comments and scriptures and prayers. They encourage us.

God is good.

  5. Burnie and Tina, you Spencer and Lucas are constantly in my heart and on my mind. We continue to pray for Lucas' healing and for the grief and pain that you are feeling to be lifted. I know you and I know that your faith is strong. Mine is too - I am believing God for a miracle. We are told to Praise God in all things. (Not necessarily for all things) God inhabits the praises of His people. Praise God!
    With faith, love and prayers,

  6. As God guided the Israelites out of Egypt & to the promised land again & again, His Sovereign Grace will help you too to persevere, press on & overcome these trying & dark days. As in the new Exodus in Isaiah 43:14-21, God makes a way in the sea. His Hand is at work through all the medical professionals' dedication, knowledge & inspired treatments. Press on through faith in Christ Jesus who leads!! [Philippns 3:12]

  11. Your updates have given me so much solace through this difficult time. When I read what you write, it inspires me to talk to God. I don't normally do that. I hope that by bringing Him into my life, I can show the Lord how much Lucas means to me, and how important his work is in this world. I wish you all strength, compassion, and love.

  16. “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all.”- 1 Chronicles 29:11

Burnie and Tina... this sucks. It just sucks worse than anything ever. and it sucks that we have such a limited view of time and space and reality and God himself. Our pain is real to him because Christ came and he intimately knows, KNOWS. Lucas is His. You are His.

praying for you to know such tender grace and mercy tonight that you can rest.

  19. Our Church found out about Lucas through Betsy Christenson. We want you to know that Faith Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, SC, has been praying for all of you.
We pray that "Jesus would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man; that Christ may dewll in your hearts by faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length and depth, and height (of love)....and to know the love of Christ which passseth knowledge, that you might be filled with all the fulness of God." Eph 3:16-
He is able to do exceedingly more that what we can ask or think...we leave Lucas in His good care.
    In our prayers, Beth Ragsdale
