Funeral arrangements

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Walker's Funeral Home, 120 W. Franklin St, Chapel Hill, NC. Tentative plans are for a visitation at the funeral home chapel from 2:00-3:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 3:30 pm on Sunday, June 20, 2010.

We have so appreciated getting to meet Lucas' Carrboro/Chapel Hill friends during the last 3 weeks and have a special request for you as well as all others who knew him. Would you consider writing out a page or so of your special thoughts or memories of our son... such as how you knew him, what made him special to you, what you will remember most, etc. Perhaps you have some pictures of him you would share. Please include your name, contact info, etc. We would like to compile these in a scrapbook as a remembrance of our son through the eyes of his friends.

God is good.

  3. Adoni. We offer you the beautiful soul of Lucas Little, please join with him in perfect union. We rejoice in the eternal presence of the Holy Spirit and the grace of the life you gave us in Jesus Christ. May we bow in Your presence, which surpasses our understanding and has authority over our will. Please, Father God, surround the Little family in your healing spirit and sustain their faith and love during this trial. Our existence is limited, and we are more aware of our purpose in the face of this loss. Sorrow runs deep for our brother Lord, make us useful and soothing friends. We weep in our human-ness, please grant us the joy that belongs to only You. We Love you, Father God. We praise you. We need your mercy. Amen.

  4. Dear Burnie, Tina and Spencer,
For some reason my 'comment' didn't get posted yesterday. My heart is so full for you - a mix of joy because of Jesus and of great sorrow. I can't really know what you are feeling, altho in my 38 years as an RN in a peds cardiac ICU I stood alongside many parents who lost children... but it never got easy.
I wish I lived closer and could give you this electronic hug in person. I continue to pray daily for God's mercies for you and for His overwhelming peace, even as you weep.
Thank you for building my faith because of your great faith and your articulate abilities to communicate God's love.
May He draw you closer to Him AND to each other through this devestating time. Be very gentle on yourselves - trusting Jesus doesn't mean we don't hurt deeply in losses, and tears are so cleansing and healing.
I keep going back to Annie Johnson Flint's hymn that I sent you as my own tears fall for and with you.
    Much love in Christ,
    Betsy

  6. Weeping and praying with you in this time of grief. My heart breaks for you all but am comforted by these words and the outpouring of your faith over the last 21 days and all of the times I have been blessed to be with you both on Honduras trips. Peace and Grace, Laura C

    Psalm 27:4-5
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.

    Psalm 30:5
Weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

    Isaiah 25:8
He will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken.
